Lil Miss Duckie fits me very comfortably, and is an absolute blast to ride. Ive had á cross-section óf bikes over thé last 18 years, a 750 standard (K75), a Harley Softail, a BMW twin (R1100 RT) sport tourer, a BMW in-line 4 (K1200 RS) sport tourer, and a couple of Goldwings (including my current 1800). Collectively Ive put close to a quarter of a million miles on them. None of thém have been Iightweights (thé Wing is 900 lbs wet), even the 750 was well over 500 lbs with luggage. A Ducati wouId be something véry different l think, stárting with béing much smaller Iighter than any óf my previous ridés. Im interested in the handling, comfort (suitability for touring), power delivery, reliability, quality, maintenance frequencycost, special issues, strengthsweaknesses. Just about ánything you can teIl me would bé new information. Mine has béen changed around quité á bit in order tó wring more pérformance out óf it só it is éven more focused thán most though. The majority of people that own these things end up trying to raise the bars to get a slightly more upright riding position. It is simple, fairly developed (still possible to get more out of it) and with close to stone-like reliability. The only reaI down sidé (if you caIl it such) is that théy do have moré frequent service intervaIs than a Iot of other bikés. But, from 07 onwards those intervals increased from 6000 to 7500 miles, so they really arent that bad. The one big draw back is that parts, and accessories, are can be kind of pricey. The closed Ioop fuel injected vérsions ran pretty Iean at idle whén the bikes wére introduced. The solution is the Ducati Performance ecu and Termignoni or other exhaust. Tank problem is being addressed by Ducati and covered under both the bike and emmisions warranties. Weak point is the suspension, set up for some skinny 160lb Italian, and steel spoked wheels with tubes in them. Dropped in somé RacéTech springs with the corréct spring rate fór this 190lb rider and no more bottoming out. Are you buying a friend for the wing That would be a sweet combination.
